Church of St Sulien, Silian, Ceredigion
east wall of the chancel (window number: I)

Given by the children of John and Margaret Stewart, in memory of their parents and brother Jenkin William Stewart. The Stewarts were a Scottish family, with a residence at Silian, Ceredigion.

It seems likely that the kneeling figure is a portrait of Jenkin William Stewart, and the faces of the Scottish saints Margaret and Columba are portraits of John and Margaret Stewart.

The scene beneath the figure of David probably represents Dyfrig (Dubricius) consecrating David as archbishop of Wales in his place, an episode recounted by Geoffrey of Monmouth in his History of the Kings of Britain.
