St Andrew
Photo © Martin Crampin
1899
Single-light window with standing figure of Andrew, holding a book and a large X-shaped cross. Scene of the Nativity below.
size: 46 cm (width)
artist: probably C. E. G. Gray
Church of St John, Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire
north wall of the north aisle (window number: nVI)
The window is probably the work of C.E.G. Gray of Cambridge, as it shows similarities with the window by him depicting the Nativity at the Church of St Martin, Haverfordwest. The arrangement of the figures in both scenes is very close, particularly the figure of Joseph. The artist was also responsible for other painted schemes in Pembrokeshire, including nearby at Monkton Priory. The same studio probably also made the window on the south side of the church, depicting St David.
Given in memory of Richard and Amelia Jane Jenkins by their daughter, Phoebe S. Mathias.
