1962

Three-light window with three scenes. The central scene is titled 'St Luke writes his Gospel' with Luke at work, a male figure standing behind him. The left-hand light depicts a kneeling soldier being baptised, while the right-hand light depicts the sower, from the parable given in the gospels.

firm/studio: Celtic Studios

Church of St Cattwg, Port-Eynon, Swansea
south wall of the nave

The window was given in memory of Major J.R. Williams (d. 1961), as well as his brother Howel Morgan Williams, who had been killed in action in the First World War, at Arras, 1917.

The scene of the baptism probably represents the baptism of Cornelius by Peter, from the Book of Acts (10:47-8), also written by Luke. The figure behind Luke may be Paul, although the figure does not have a halo to indicate that he is a saint (as the baptising figure does).
