David
Photo © Martin Crampin
about 1897
Figure at the centre of the stone panelled reredos. Stands with crown and harp.
Church of St David, Penmaenmawr, Conwy
east wall of the sanctuary
The harp and crown clearly indicate that the figure is a standard image of the biblical David. However, he is titled as the Welsh St David, which would have been appropriate give the dedication of the church to St David. A pity that the iconography does not match!
