St Edward the Confessor gives his ring to St John the Evangelist

Edward (died 1066), was king of England (1042–66). According to his Life, he gave a ring to a beggar near Westminster. Two pilgrims in the Holy Land met an old man who told them that he was John the Evangelist, and gave them the ring in order to return it to Edward.
