Constantine the Great, Roman emperor
Constantine the Great (died 337) was instrumental in the adoption of Christianity as the religion of the Roman empire following his victory at Milvian Bridge in 312. His activities in Britain, where he was proclaimed Caesar by his troops in 306, ensured that he entered Welsh tradition as a military hero, and he also appears to have been the subject of a saintly cult in Britain.
