St Augustine, bishop of Hippo
Augustine of Hippo (354–430) is one of the four Latin Fathers or Doctors of the Church. He was born in Tagaste (Algeria) and taught in Rome and Milan before being converted and baptised in 386–7. He became bishop of Hippo in 395.
